§ Mr. Maclean[holding answer 22 May 1995]: Within the National Criminal Intelligence Service two members of staff currently work full-time on liaison duties associated with the Europol drugs unit. Other members of NCIS, the Home Office and Customs and Excise undertake duties associated with the work of the unit as part of their wider responsibilities for national and international police and customs co-operation.

§ Mr. Maclean[holding answer 22 May 1995]: For the financial year 1994–95 the United Kingdom's contribution towards the running and staff costs of the Europol drugs unit in The Hague was £849,000. Some additional costs were incurred in the United Kingdom as a result of staff time spent on representational, liaison and other duties associated with the work of the unit.
