Mr. Foulkes

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what was the total income in 1993–94 to each local authority and in total from placements of old people in(a) registered and (b) unregistered independent residential care and nursing homes, inside and outside the local authority area and from placements in local authority homes for older people; and if he will break down by income from (i) government grants, inside aggregate external finance and outside aggregate external finance, (ii) sales, (iii) fees and charges, (iv) other income and (v) joint arrangements. The information requested is given in the following tables, based on revenue outturn forms from local authorities in Wales. Local authorities received no income in 1993–94 from placements in unregistered independent residential care and nursing homes.
