HL Deb 16 May 1995 vol 564 c36WA
Earl Attlee

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What action they are taking to strengthen their diplomatic representation in Rwanda and Burundi.

The Minister of State, Foreign and Commonwealth Office (Baroness Chalker of Wallasey)

We have informed the Government of Rwanda of our intention to replace the British Government's Liaison Office in Kigali with an Embassy as soon as protocol and staffing formalities permit. We have also established a temporary office in Bujumbura staffed by a Diplomatic Service officer.
