To ask the president of the Board of Trade what will be the level of Government expenditure on the support for products under research and the small firms merit award for research and technology schemes in 1995–96.

Estimated Government expenditure in 1995–96 will be £9.75 million on the SPUR scheme and £13.75 million on the SMART scheme, including Scotland and Wales.
