§ Mrs. BrowningOur marketing grants are helping UK suppliers to meet the needs of customers on both the domestic and export markets. In addition, MAFF Ministers initiated a catering project towards the end of 1993 to provide special encouragement in this sector.
As regards veal in particular, I opened a seminar on 24 February in the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food which brought together all those with an interest in welfare friendly veal. The Ministry will be funding a demonstration project into veal production, to show the best practices for producing veal under welfare-friendly systems, and to provide economic data.
