§ Mr. HurdThe Croatian offensive in West Slavonia and the refusal of the parties in Bosnia to extend the cessation of hostilities agreement have seriously increased tensions in the region. We urge all parties to show restraint and co-operate fully with the UN to prevent escalation. These developments underline the urgency of progress in the political process. The contact group is continuing its efforts to promote mutual recognition between the states of the former Yugoslavia and secure a resumption of negotiations on Bosnia on the basis of the contact group plan. Further meetings of contact group officials are being held this week.
