HL Deb 02 May 1995 vol 563 c111WA
Lord Braine of Wheatley

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they are aware of any research that has been conducted during the past 10 years into the incidence of post-abortion stress; what plans there are to fund future studies, and whether they will place in the Library of the House such information as they have currently available to them.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of Health (Baroness Cumberlege)

A study entitledTermination of pregnancy and psychiatric morbidity was funded by the Department of Health during this period. A report is awaiting publication. The department is always willing to consider soundly based research proposals subject to the competing demands on finite research funding.
