§ Lord James Douglas-HamiltonThe expenditure on educational research projects by the Scottish Office education department for the last five years is as set out in the table together with the percentage of overall education expenditure. The education expenditure represents direct funding by central Government which from 1 April 1993 included the funding of all higher education in Scotland, and from the same date the funding of further education colleges. The arts and local authority funding are not included.
