HC Deb 01 May 1995 vol 259 c12W
Mr. Win Griffiths

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland how much money has been devoted to funding education research projects by his Department in each of the last five years; and what percentage of education spending this represents. [21558]

Lord James Douglas-Hamilton

The expenditure on educational research projects by the Scottish Office education department for the last five years is as set out in the table together with the percentage of overall education expenditure. The education expenditure represents direct funding by central Government which from 1 April 1993 included the funding of all higher education in Scotland, and from the same date the funding of further education colleges. The arts and local authority funding are not included.
