To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what has been the annual cost of a psychiatric bed in hospitals in(a) Renfrewshire, (b) Strathclyde and (c) Scotland in each of the past five years. [16431]

The following table has been derived from the Scottish health service costs book and contains the annual cost of a psychiatric bed in hospitals in(a) Renfrewshire, (b) health boards within the Strathclyde region area and (c) all Scotland. Prior to financial year 1991–92 this information was not collected centrally. The health boards within Strathclyde regional council"s boundaries are: Ayrshire and Arran, Argyll and Clyde, Greater Glasgow and Lanarkshire.
