To ask the Secretary of State for Employment when the Health and Safety Executive will make a complete independent assessment of the Forth railway bridge. [15101]

Mr. Oppenheim

I understand the director general of the Health and Safety Executive, Mr. Rimington, has asked Her Majesty's railway inspectorate to undertake an assessment of the Forth bridge.

A time scale for the completion of this work has not yet been confirmed.
