To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what aid has been made available to Saharwi people in refugee camps. [13026]

Mr. Baldry

The UNHCR earmarked £4 million for the Saharwi refugees in 1994 and a further £4 million this year.

The United Kingdom provides no direct bilateral aid, but helps indirectly through its contributions to UNHCR. ODA has provided over £20 million in 1994–95 for UNHCR's general programmes budget.
