To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what proportion of those accepted for fast-stream entry for which his Department is responsible(a) in 1991, (b) in 1992, (c) in 1993 and (d) in 1994 were women.

[holding answer 9 March 1995]: The proportion of women as a total of those selected for fast-stream entry to the Scottish Office in 1991 and 1992 can be found in the Civil Service Commissioner's report for the relevant years, copies of which are available in the Library of the House.

The figures for 1993 and 1994 are 36 per cent. and 50 per cent. respectively.
