§ Mr. McMaster
To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what is the percentage of disabled people directly employed by his Department; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Howard
Some 0.8 per cent. of staff in the Home Office and its agencies are known to be disabled. There are likely to be others who have not responded to the Department's voluntary surveys.
The nature of many of the posts within the Prison Service limits the scope for employing people with disabilities; excluding Prison Service staff, the percentage of staff in the Home Office and its agencies who are known to be disabled is 2.2 per cent.
