§ Mr. RedwoodI intend making over £6 million available to fund modern apprenticeships in 1995–96. My Department is currently in discussions with the training and enterprise councils to determine those sectors to which modern apprenticeships will be extended to meet the needs of the local economy, though a strong emphasis on manufacturing engineering will continue.
