To ask the Secretary of State for Health what has been the response to the recent publication of the handbook on child and adolescent mental health; and if she will make a statement. [32469]

The handbook, copies of which are available in the Library, has been warmly welcomed by all those working in the field as providing a clear statement of the importance of child and adolescent mental health and the need for a variety of agencies to work together to provide a comprehensive and complementary range of services. It was issued in March as part of our programme to help in the development of mental health services for the young, under "The Health of the Nation" initiative, and it has proved to be such a success that we are already having to reprint it within weeks of its launch.
