HC Deb 22 June 1995 vol 262 c345W
Mr. Redmond

To ask the Secretary of State for Health if candidates for management posts at national health service trusts are obliged to declare personal connections to trust chairmen; and if chairmen are required to make declarations in such circumstances. [28326]

Mr. Malone

All board members are required to subscribe to the code of conduct for national health service boards, which makes it clear that chairman and board members should act impartially and should not be influenced by social or business relationships when acting on behalf of the trust. When recruiting for management posts, trusts should take appropriate steps to ensure that potential conflicts of interest are identified and dealt with in line with the code.
