Mr. Alan WilliamsTo ask the Secretary of State for Wales what progress has been made in the "Too Old, Who Says?" campaign in Wales; and if he will make a statement. [29511]
§ Mr. RichardsThe campaign is being taken forward by the Employment Department. I refer the hon. Member to the reply given to the hon. Member for Eastbourne (Mr. Waterson) on 13 June 1995,Official Report, column 443, by my hon. Friend the Minister of State, Department of Employment. To compete successfully, employers in Wales must be ready to take full advantage of the skills, reliability, experience and commitment that older people have to offer. It is in employers' best interest to treat people on their merits, regardless of their age.
