To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what bilateral agreements currently exist between the United Kingdom and the Seychelles. [28785]

The following bilateral agreements are in force:

  1. (i) Exchange of notes between the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the Government of the Republic of Seychelles concerning the return to Seychelles of the Islands of Aldabra, Desroches and Farquhar.

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what technical assistance and aid the United Kingdom gives to the Seychelles. [28784]

Mr. Baldry

Our aid programme consists of training awards, small projects and gifts under the British partnership and heads of mission gifts schemes, and residual assistance to the fire service. In addition, the UK share of EC aid to the Seychelles under Lomé IV is over £600,000.
