To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will list those persons appointed to the position of chief social work officer by the 29 new unitary authorities under the terms of the Local Government etc. (Scotland) Act 1994 with their salaries and present occupational positions and employers; and if he will make a statement. Lord James Douglas- Hamilton

Of the 32 new unitary authorities only one has officially confirmed the appointment of a chief social work officer. Angus council has appointed Mr. William B. Robertson. Mr. Robertson is currently deputy director of social work with Tayside regional council. His salary will be £59,571. Details of the outstanding appointments will be reported to the Secretary of State in due course.
