627WPQ: 95/592 STEP PARENT ADOPTIONSThe Parliamentary Secretary, Lord Chancellor's Department, has asked me to reply to your question about the number of step-parent adoptions in 1993.Of the 6,812 adoption orders made in 1993 in the magistrates courts, the county courts and the High Court, 3,202 (47%) were in favour of the step-parents.

Of these, 4,095 (52%) were made by step-parents.
