To ask the President of the Board of Trade what steps he is taking to ensure that utility customer service committees represent the views of local consumers. [26842]

Responsibility for the effective representation of consumers of the electricity and water industries rests with the Director General of Electricity Supply and the Director General of Water Services through appointments to the electricity consumers' committees and the water customer services committees.
