HC Deb 13 June 1995 vol 261 cc443-4W
18. Dr. Wright

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment if he will make a statement on works councils. [26478]

Mr. Oppenheim

Works councils are one of the many forms of voluntary employee involvement practices used by employers in the UK.

The Government are firmly committed to the principle of employers informing and, where appropriate, consulting their employees about matters which affect them. But we believe that, to be successful, employee involvement must always be voluntary.
