To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what maternity and paternity entitlements are available to employees within his Department. [27282]

In conjunction with the statutory entitlements available, and subject to certain conditions, a female employee is entitled to maternity leave of three months and one week on full pay. Unpaid maternity leave is also allowed, provided that taken together with paid leave, the total period does not exceed 52 weeks.

Male employees are entitled to two days paternity leave on full pay.
