§ Mr. BaldryIn its statement of 11 May, the Security Council welcomed the recent positive developments in Angola, in particular the meeting between President dos Santos and Dr. Savimbi in Lusaka on 6 May. This has given new impetus to the peace process. The UK has contributed a 600-strong logistics battalion to UNAVEM III for three months and provided training in mine clearance in preparation for the deployment of a Zimbabwean battalion.
