Mr. Worthington

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs (1) what representations he has made to the government of Nigeria about the holding of political prisoners; and in respect of which individuals he has made representations; [35763]

(2) what representations he has made to the government of Nigeria about the holding of secret trials; and which prisoners were involved; [35764]

(3) what discussions he has had with the Secretary General of the Commonwealth about the situation in Nigeria; and if he will make a statement; [35765]

(4) if he supports the sanctions imposed by the United States of America on Nigeria; and if he will impose similar sanctions; [35766]

(5) what representations he has made to British oil companies about their activities in Nigeria; [35767]

(6) which military links and arms trading with Nigeria he intends to sustain; [35768]

(7) what consideration he has given to the suspension of Nigeria from the Commonwealth; [35769]

(8) what action had been decided upon by the European Union in respect of the conduct by the Government of Nigeria; [35770]

(9) what aid support is given by (a) the British Government and (b) the European Union to Nigeria; and what proposals he has to end such support. [35771]
