To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will list for each civil service grade in his Department the number of(a) male and (b) female staff (i) full-time and (ii) part-time employees. [35462]

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, if he will list(a) the number of (i) male and (ii) female employees, (b) the number of officials employed at each of the principal grades and the number and percentages of women employed at these grades and (c) the numbers of staff employed at administrative grades and the number and percentages of these staff that are women, in his Department and for each of its executive agencies for each year since 1985. The information is not readily available in the detail requested and could be produced only at disproportionate cost. The relevant figures for the Northern Ireland civil service for the years 1985, 1987, 1991 and 1993, inclusive of its executive agencies where appropriate, are contained in the regular series of biannual reports published by the central equal opportunities unit of the Northern Ireland civil service, the first of which was published in 1986 and the latest, containing the 1993 figures in June 1994. Copies of the reports are available in the Library.
