§ Mr. NorrisThe Department of Transport has been actively pursuing the civil service programme for action to achieve equality of opportunity for women. The Department has implemented an extensive programme of equal opportunities training and has encouraged part-time working and flexible working patterns. The proportion of women in management positions has increased significantly and women now make up 14 per cent. of the Department's three top grades.
