HC Deb 18 July 1995 vol 263 c1118W
Mr. Worthington

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what action is being taken by Northern Ireland ports to seek financial assistance through the European Union. [35289]

Mr. Moss

The ports of Belfast, Londonderry, Warrenpoint and Lame have all submitted applications for European regional development fund assistance to the transportation sub-programme which is part of the Northern Ireland single programme. Several projects at each of the ports have been given preliminary acceptance to the sub-programme and letters of offer have already been issued for four projects at Londonderry and one at Larne.

Londonderry and Warrenpoint have also submitted projects to the Interreg II initiative and these will be considered in due course.
