§ Mr. MaloneThe latest available information shows that there were 226 clinical oncology and 59 medical oncology consultants working in the National Health Service in England on 30 September 1993. However, a number of other specialties are involved in the treatment of cancer, including general surgery and anaesthetics.
The Government seek to ensure an adequate supply of appropriately trained doctors in each specialty, including those involved in the treatment of cancer.
