To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what has been achieved, in terms of projects and cash, by the private finance initiative in the past year. [34023]

In the past year a range of projects has been taken forward. The present position on projects which are being developed, or are strong candidates, for funding through private finance, is as follows:

Design, Build, Manage and finance Secure Training Centres for Young Offenders: Gringley and Cookham Wood Tenders being assessed
Design, Build, Manage and Finance three further Secure Training Centres Invitation to tender in preparation
Police National Network Contract in place
Public Safety Radio Communications Project In design
Central development of IT projects for police forces In design
Immigration Detention Accommodation:
Gatwick In construction
Heathrow In design
Immigration and Nationality Caseworking Management Information System In design

The capital value of these schemes is estimated at £1.2 billion.
