§ Mr. WaldegraveExcluding flows within the public sector, gross public sector debt interest payments in 1994–95 amounted to £22.5 billion. Central Government debt interest payments were £21.9 billion, of which it is estimated some £700 million represented gross interest on gilts issued during 1994–95. It is not possible to provide reliable estimates of debt service costs arising from other forms of debt issued in the year.
