HC Deb 13 July 1995 vol 263 cc766-7W
Mr. John D. Taylor

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland to what extent each of the two Northern Ireland universities seek to attract foreign undergraduates from each of the 14 member nations of the European Union; and to what extent they give priority attention to promotions in the Republic of Ireland. [33627]

Mr. Ancram

Both Northern Ireland universities provide details of their courses on European-wide computerised databases. Copies of the universities' prospectuses are also available throughout the European Union through the offices of the British Council.

The universities are also active participants in EU student mobility schemes which provide for EU students to undertake part of their course of study in Northern Ireland.

Both universities undertake promotional visits to the Republic of Ireland in response to direct requests for them to be represented at major career conventions.
