§ Mr. BaldryUnder the Sino-British joint declaration, the Government of the future Hong Kong special administrative region shall maintain the rights and freedoms provided for by the laws previously in force in Hong Kong. The declaration explicitly protects freedom of the press, freedom to form and join trade unions, and freedom to strike.
