§ Mr. Austin MitchellTo ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what requirements exist for British consultation and consent in swap arrangements made between other EEC Governments in respect of British waters.
§ Mr. JackAs my reply to the hon. Member on 20 January,Official Report, column 736, explained, the Commission must be notified when a swap has been agreed. The Commission then notifies all member states. There is no requirement for prior consultation with the member states in whose waters the quota may be fished.
