Mr. Cox

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what meetings he(a) has held or (b) proposes to hold with organisations running public transport systems in the United Kingdom to make the service more user-friendly.

My right hon. Friend and I regularly meet the chairman of London Transport and the British Railways Board to discuss a wide range of issues including measures to improve services for passengers. For bus services outside London, I have reconstituted the bus working group, which will include representatives from the Confederation of Passenger Transport, local authority associations and the National Federation of Bus Users to see what further measures can be taken to improve services within the deregulated framework.
