To ask the Secretary of State for Education how many pupils aged(a) seven, (b) eight, (c) nine and (d) 10 years attend schools in each of the local authority area in England and Wales.

The number of pupils in each local education authority area in England in January 1994 who were aged seven, eight, nine and 10 years at the beginning of the school years are shown in the table. Information on pupils by age in schools in Wales is the responsibility of my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Wales.
