§ Mr. Mike O'BrienTo ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, pursuant to his answer of 14 February,Official Report, column 589, if he will name the prisoners who have been informed that Ministers have set a whole life tariff.
§ Mr. Michael ForsythNo. The prisoners concerned have the right to make representations about the tariff set by previous Ministers. If they do so, their case will be considered afresh. No decision has yet been made in any of these cases. It would therefore be inappropriate to name the prisoners at this stage.
