§ Mr. JackIn negotiations so far, my right hon. Friend has called for reductions in sugar prices, argued that if any quota cuts are needed to enable the Community to meet its general agreement on tariffs and trade obligations, these fall on those member states responsible for surplus Community production, and supported measures to maintain the viability of the cane refining sector. Substantive discussion is expected to continue at the Agriculture Council on 27 and 28 March.
