HC Deb 14 February 1995 vol 254 c633W
Mr. Chisholm

To ask the Secretary of Stale for Scotland how many(a) clinical oncology consultants and (b) medical oncology consultants there are currently in Scotland; and how many of each are funded by charities.

Lord James Douglas-Hamilton

[holding answer 13 February 1995]: There were 31 consultants in clinical oncology—radiotherapy—and 12 consultants in medical oncology in Scotland at 30 September 1994 the latest date for which information is available centrally.

The Pringle report "Management of Non-Surgical Cancer Services in Scotland", 1992, found that five posts in medical oncology were funded by the major cancer charities.
