§ Mr. McAllion
To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland how many ancillary workers were directly employed by health boards and NHS trusts in Scotland; and how many were employed by private contractors in each of the past five years for which figures are available.

The number of ancillary staff directly employed by health boards and NHS trusts is shown in the table. Information about ancillary staff employed by private contractors is not collected centrally.
