HL Deb 06 February 1995 vol 561 c2WA
Lord Hylton

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether in their opinion the trial in the State Security Court of the well-known novelist, Mr. Yasar Kemal, is likely to contravene the provisions of the European Convention on Human Rights on freedom of expression, to which Turkey is a party; and if so, what action they will take.

Lord Inglewood

No date has yet been set for the trial. It would therefore be premature for the Government to comment.
