§ Sir Paul BeresfordUrban development corporations can reclaim land for a wide variety of uses, subject to their general object of securing the regeneration of their areas. The phase 2 scheme at Wearmouth colliery is expected to be taken forward on the basis of offers of interest from the private sector, and it is not appropriate at this stage to predetermine what uses might be the most suitable for the site.
