§ Lord James Douglas-HamiltonThe figure announced in the Scottish Grand Committee was an estimate based on the current capital programme of the NHS in Scotland. It covers schemes which are likely to1062W proceed or are already proceeding using the private finance solutions. The £311 million is derived from estimated expenditure over the following years:
- 1996–97: £75 million
- 1997–98: £113 million
- 1998–99: £123 million.
Some schemes currently planned will continue beyond these three years. The values include capital expenditure only and are made up of expenditure projected for the new royal infirmary of Edinburgh, Western general hospital, Law and Hairmyres hospitals and a number of other schemes.
