To ask the Secretary of State for Wales how many(a) fatal, (b) major and (c) minor accidents took place on youth training schemes in Wales in (i) July to September 1993, (ii) October to December 1993, (iii) January to March 1994, (iv) April to June 1994, (v) July to September 1994, (vi) October to December 1994, (vii) January to March 1995, (viii) April to June 1995 and (ix) July to September 1995; and what were the numbers of accidents on training for work for the same periods.   1. 1. Welsh Office figures for trainees have been compiled on a similar basis to those prepared by the Health and Safety Executive for employed persons. However, the Department's figures include a number of accidents to trainees in educational establishments and road traffic accidents which would not have been reportable to the Health and Safety Executive had the individual been employed.
  2. 2. Major injuries are classified according to the severity criteria laid down in the Reporting of Injuries Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 1985 (RIDDOR).
  3. 3. The accident figures for the period July to September 1995 are not yet available.
