[holding answer 14 December 1995]: There are 49 procurator fiscal districts in Scotland. In some cases a procurator fiscal has responsibility for more than one district and where this is the case the districts have been grouped together.

[holding answer 14 December 1995]: A Crown Office steering group has been carrying out a senior management review of the Crown Office and procurator fiscal service. Depending on the outcome of the review any necessary consultations will be undertaken.
