HL Deb 18 December 1995 vol 567 cc128-30WA
Lord Dubs

asked Her Majesty's Government:

How many persons are currently being held in prisons or detention centres under Immigration Act powers, and where are they being held.

Baroness Blatch

The information requested is given in the table. The data exclude non-asylum port cases in detention for less than a month —information on such cases is not available centrally —and also exclude a small number of persons held in police cells.
