To ask the Secretary of State for National Heritage what are her proposals for a British academy of sport. [4646]

As I announced on 5 December,Official Report, column 153, the Sports Council has issued a consultation document on what the structure and content of the British Academy of Sport might be and has asked for responses by 31 January 1996. This follows the announcement in the Government's sports policy statement "Sport: Raising the Game" that the Government wish to see established a British Academic of Sport, together with a national network of facilities.
