To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland how many institutions provide conductive education for children with special educational needs; and how many children are currently receiving conductive therapy in each institution. [5812]

Various institutions in Scotland, including a number of local authority and grant-aided special schools, provide education that is inspired by the principles of conductive education. However, detailed information on precise numbers is not held centrally.

The Scottish Office has not made an assessment of the value and achievements of conductive education specifically.
