(2) how many representations have been received with regard to the closure of the Rhyl driving test centre (a) since 30 November 1994 and (b) in total. [18923]

Mr. Norris

These are operational matters for the Driving Standards Agency. I have asked the chief executive to write to the hon. Member.

Letter from Bernard L. Herdan to Mr. David Hanson, dated 18 April 1995: The Secretary of State for Transport has asked me to reply to your questions about the Rhyl Driving Test Centre. My letter to you of 7 February advised that some 25 individuals and organisations responded to our public consultation exercise which concluded on 30 November 1994. Since that date a further 13 responses have been received, including 2 petitions with 110 signatures. John Morris, who attended the meeting with the local driving instructors on 18 November 1994 indicated as a rough guide that the maximum potential for tests at Rhyl, and its outstation at Llandudno, was 5760, i.e. 3 examiners conducting 40 tests per week for 48 weeks.
