§ Mr. SoamesBramley training area—formerly Bramley central ammunition depot—is the only MOD site where first world war chemical warfare munitions are known to have been buried. Following the discovery in 1987 of CW munitions buried there, munition recovery and clearance work was carried out. Work on further302W searches is currently being undertaken at other locations within the site. Any CW munitions located will be removed, rendered safe and transported to the Chemical and Biological Defence Establishment, Porton Down for destruction.
